Improvements Underway at Baseball Complex

The WT Baseball Board remains hard at work pursuing funding to continue implementation of the much needed improvements at the Baseball Complex and our school fields. Thanks to sponsors, fund raising efforts, and funds allocated from an open space grant, several projects are underway for the start of a busy season at the facilities with even more improvements scheduled!

Phase 1 of the work, which is still ongoing, will be focused primarily on safety enhancements and field improvements.  All complex fields have been thatched and seeded. Work is underway to raise and reshape infields and rebuild mounds. Both Field 1 & Field 2 infields were removed, leveled, and replaced with new sod. New nets for our Field 1 cages have been purchased and will be installed shortly along with our newly purchased pole pads for Field 3. Washington Township has scheduled to repair the lights by Field 3 and they have already added a new blinking pedestrian cross walk with a “Push-to-Cross” feature. Last and certainly not least, thanks to Dicks Sporting Goods, a new scoreboard has been installed at Field 3!

Additional Planned Improvements:

  • New backstop fencing installation/repair
  • Field 4 will receive new infield sod
  • Field 3 fencing repair/replacement
  • Trees will be trimmed along light poles and fields
  • New ground equipment will be available for all complex fields (rakes, tampers, tarps, etc.)

Additional funds are expected in 2019 and beyond!

Future phases include continued field development and general facilities renovation. Incorporated in this plan is the much anticipated paving of the parking areas. Both parking lots will be paved, including lined spacing and direction arrows in and out of complex. Other potential projects include replacing several sheds and the installation of a brand new batting cage near Field 4.

Additionally, funds will contribute to improvements and maintenance of our town’s school fields as used by our intramural program.

The board is in the process of laying out a 5-year plan for the development and maintenance of our facilities and fields. More to come on an exciting season ahead but for now… Play Ball!
