Nadiir King Home Run Derby – April 4th
On April 4, 2014, Nadiir King, was walking to his friend’s house when he collapsed suddenly and died. Nadiir was 14. He appeared to be in perfect health. Unbeknownst to us, he suffered from Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (“HCM”), a condition that causes the heart muscle to thicken. Left untreated, HCM can cause sudden cardiac arrest and sudden cardiac death. Nadiir was in the eighth grade at Chestnut Ridge Middle School. He loved sports and was a member of the Washington Township travel baseball and basketball teams.
Many of Nadiir’s friends and classmates expressed an interest in doing something in his memory. With the support of the Washington Township Education Fund and the Washington Township Baseball Program, we are hosting a home run derby on April 4, 2015, the first anniversary of Nadiir’s death. The home run derby will be held at the Washington Twp Baseball Complex. This will be a fun event for the entire family. Aside from the derby, there will be music, food, face painting and other fun activities.
